What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing, based on the idea that the practitioner can channel "universal life force energy" to the recipient by placing their hands lightly on or near the body.
How does it work?
Reiki works on the biofield, an energetic field surrounding and permeating the body. When this field is imbalanced, it may lead to physical, emotional, or mental distress. Through various hand placements on or over areas of concern in the body, we can create a healthy flow of the energy systems. Reiki aims to restore harmony and promote self-healing.
What are the benefits?
Reiki is known to induce deep relaxation, which can reduce stress and trigger the parasympathetic nervous system (the body’s “rest and digest” mode). This relaxation response can lead to lower cortisol levels, improved immune function, and overall well-being.
